Current Expedition
Since July 2005, we are making use of our online diary to keep you informed about our Trans-East-Expedition.
This time we will not be riding camels, but bicycles - they are to take us 20.000 km from Germany via Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, the Ukraine, Russia, Siberia, then on horseback through Mongolia, back onto the bikes through China, then switching to elephants to carry on through Burma. We will be on our way for four to five years.
We have no idea of what will be expecting us on this trip. This is all we know: Russia is - like Australia - a country striking with its vastness and immensity. A country between Europe and Asia, itself as big as a continent; a country spanned across twelve time zones and various climes, captivating its visitors with its wild and strange beauty.
Fact is also that China and its thousand year old culture, its exotic countryside and its charm for being different has a magical attraction for us.
Full of anticipation, we wonder whether mysterious Burma will open its gates and allow us to be part of its fascinating mystical inner.
The idea is to penetrate from Europe right into the heart of Asia of our own accord, that way getting to know cultures, people, and countries yet unknown to us. Once again we would like to immerse into an unknown world, with the aim also to carry on finding the way to our own soul.
